MONDAY IN RUSSIA

a>

ONCE AGAIN CONGRATS ON THE WINS FROM THE WEEKEND.! TOLD EVERYBODY HERE ABOUT IT!

WE GOT TOGETHER WITH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS THIS PAST WEEKEND OUR GUESTS FROM ARIZONA DID A DAY OF ENGLISH WITH THEM. WE HAVE SOME REALLY SHARP YOUNG PEOPLE IN OUR CLASSES AND THE TEACHERS WE PARTNER WITH ARE GREAT. WE HOPE TO USE ENGLISH AS A TOOL TO INFLUENCE THESE YOUNG PEOPLE FOR CHRIST.

YESTERDAY WE WERE IN A SMALL VILLAGE CHURCH IN A PLACE CALLED KASPLI. IT IS ABOUT 40 MINUTES OUTSIDE OF THE CITY. WE'VE BEEN HELPING THE WORK NOW FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS. THESE IS A VERY POOR VILLAGE AND THE PEOPLE ARE LITERALLY FORGOTTEN BY MOST. WE ENJOYED THE WORSHIP WITH THEM AND THE OPPORTUNITY THAT GOD IS GIVING US TO MINISTER THERE.

TODAY WE HEAD OUT TO ONE OF THE ORPHANAGES WHERE WE WORK AND WILL SPEND SOME TIME WITHTHE KIDS THERE. THE WEATHER HERE HAS BRIGHTENED CONSIDERABLY TODAY AND WE ARE ACTUALLY SEEING THE SUN FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE.

I'M THINKING YA'LL ARE GETTING READY FOR FLORIDA, RIGHT? WILL YOU PRACTICE LIKE USUAL? CHECK IN SOMETIME AND LET ME KNOW HOW YOU'RE DOING.

Falcons Win Defensive Standoff

The final regular season game of the North Georgia Falcons middle school team was played Saturday night at Weatherby Park in Waleska. The Falcons hosted the Carolina Titians from Anderson, SC. Both teams proved to be much improved from their first meeting in August. Thus, the defensive battle proved to be tough for both teams.
The Falcons tried to get the early momentum with the opening kickoff by Esteban Cortes’ onside kick but failed to recover. North Georgia has been known for their quick scoring offense but were held to zero points in the first half of play. Running backs, Alec Beaty (10 carries for 48 yards), Julian Champ (10 carries for 16 yards), and Luke Durnwald (8 carries for 30 yards and TD) were still plowing forward but were earning every yard. Zane McDaniel (10 carries for 47 yards) lead the offense to their only touchdown in the 4th quarter. The Falcons had to use Jesse Rodgers’ leg in punting the ball (2 times for 50 yards) to help push the Titians back when the offense came to a stalemate. But the Carolina defense was not the toughest on the field.
The Falcons fast defense put on a show for the fans. Mark Dunn sparked the game changing moment with his second quarterback sack, which went down as a safety! The defense had a total of three interceptions (Jared Stephens, Zane McDaniel, and Julian Champ). With the weather getting colder, the hard hitting defense was able to cause three fumbles (Zane McDaniel, Mark Dunn, and Gordon Thigpen). Fumble recoveries by Tim Walker, Zack Waddell, and Julian Champ were exactly what the team needed to keep the momentum for the rest of the game.

North Georgia Falcons nip Crown Knights 24-21
By Hank St.Denis

The Falcons got on the scoreboard first with a 30 yard field goal from Karter Brown to go up 3-0 with 5:50 to go in the first quarter. Crown's Evan White intercepted a Falcon pass and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. The 2 pt extra point was good on a QB Rob Schuler to Tim Brummell pass giving Crown the lead at 8-3 which was the score at the end of the quarter. Crown went up 14-3 with 8:40 to go in the second quarter when QB Rob Schuler scored on a one yard run. The kick was no good. Score: Crown 14 North Georgia 3. The Falcons came right back and scored on a Tim Howard run of 4 yards. The Falcons went for the 2 point conversion and were successful when Howard threw to Robert David in the end zone. Crown led 14-11. The Falcons moved down the field before halftime, but missed on a 38 yard field goal just before halftime. Halftime score: Crown 14 North Georgia 11.
The Falcons took the second half kickoff and drove down the field. David Ross capped the drive with a 9 yards run for the score. Karter Brown added the extra point. Falcons took the lead at 18 to 14. With 12 seconds left in the third quarter, Crown scored on a Schuler to Josh Cantrell 4 yard pass. The extra point was good and Crown had the lead again at 21 to 18. The 4th quarter saw both teams move the ball but turnovers stifled each drive. However, the Falcons took over with about 4 minutes left in the game. They drove down the field and on a third and 10 David Ross connected with Riley Davis on a 23 yard pass that put the ball on the 2 yard line. With 1:45 left on the clock, David Ross scored from 2 yards giving the Falcons the margin of victory. North Georgia 24 Crown 21. Crown moved the ball down the field, but fell short of the goal.
North Georgia advanced to 2nd place in the GFL standings and will be preparing for the 1st round of state play-offs Saturday, November 8th at Kell Stadium. Game time 7:30
